Description

We are looking for an experienced  Outsourcing Assistant Manager to join our busy Farnborough team and office.  This role may require presence in other offices from time to time.

This is a new role created to capitalise on the Outsourcing and Advisory opportunities arising within the local area, as well as the growth of the service line overall. The purpose is to provide support and an Outsourcing presence within the Farnborough office on a day-to-day basis. The role will include the preparation of management accounts for a wide variety of clients, the management of a small portfolio of SME clients and occasionally will involve carrying out cloud accounting advisory work, conversions and training. The rapid growth of the service line allows for great progression opportunities and the dynamic variety of work makes this a role that continuously creates new skills and excitement.

Key Responsibilities

This is an indicative list of tasks and responsibilities. Given that it is a new role, this job description will evolve through mutual agreement.

Working closely with clients and Menzies Managers taking responsibility for the preparation of management accounts and overseeing the client’s accounting activities:

  • Start to build experience managing relationships with clients, partners, and relationship teams as necessary per client with an advisory focus
  • Preparation of management accounts, ability to communicate and interpret these for the client
  • Maintain accounting records and working papers, calculate and apply month end adjustments to management accounts
  • Competently complete VAT returns applying technical knowledge. Review smaller, more straight forward VAT returns and file
  • Perform ad hoc project work as requested– e.g. catch up exercises for clients and tidying up accounting software
  • Assist with standardising and maintaining internal working papers and checklists
  • Manage their portfolio of outsourcing work in an efficient manner keeping recoveries within the department target
  • Marketing and networking - promotion of service line internally and externally
  • Review work by more junior staff
  • Prepare budgets for client work and new client proposals
  • Responsible for client delivery & quality control
  • Identify and implement internal efficiencies
  • Good understanding of client business and key performance indicators
  • Building constructive relationships within Outsourcing and other Menzies service lines
  • Undertake work both in the office and at client sites, as required
  • Attend client prospect and accounts meetings with senior staff or by themselves
  • Building forecasting experience and understanding
  • Preparing proposals and engagement letters for new prospects and Service & Advisory work
  • Proactively contributes to the development of more junior staff with technical and practical experience
  • Understanding of issues and drivers affecting business performance
  • Aware of budgets and the impact on the performance of the firm
  • Communicates effectively and professionally in person and in writing

The Person

  • ACA or ACCA Qualified
  • Excellent working knowledge of cloud based accounting systems
  • Solid technical accounting knowledge
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to motivate and develop a team
  • Adaptable to varying client needs
  • Effective client relationship builder
  • Strong commercial business acumen
  • Demonstrates Best Practice approach to all tasks and assignments
